Happy Birthday President Buhari But Don't go for Second Term - Fayose

Image
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his 75th birthday. He, however, advised the president not run for a second term. Fayose, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, noted that the President had served the nation as far as he could with his advanced age. “This is to congratulate Mr President as he clocks 75. I want to thank God for his life and pray for good health in the service of our nation and that he continues to age with grace. I wish him the best. He represents us all and we owe him prayers and cooperation where necessary, just as we also need to criticise him too where necessary,” he said. The governor said it would be honourable for the president to quit now. “I am not a fan of an old man and this is not personal and peculiar to President Buhari. We need an agile president come 2019. “We need somebody that is experienced and agile. He shouldn’t contest and the decision

We Can No Longer Laugh With Buhari -El-Rufai

Image
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has admitted that he and some other people he did not name can no longer be laughing with President Muhammadu Buhari as they were doing when they were in opposition. He said in those days, he and others would be laughing and rolling on the floor of Buhari’s living room. The governor who apparently was talking about the funny aspect of the President spoke in a documentary, “Buhari: Beyond the Iron and Steel” put together by the President’s media team. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, made excerpts of the interviews in the documentary, meant to show the other side of Buhari, available on his Facebook page on Sunday. “When we were in the opposition, you needed to see how we rolled on the floor in his (Buhari’s) living room, as we laughed. Of course, we can’t do that again now,” Adesina quoted El-Rufai as saying in the documentary. Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was also quoted as c

Treasury looters seek to return to govt, Lai Mohammed warns

Image
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has challenged the civil society to work with the media and other stakeholders to ensure that Nigerians never forget, for one moment, the damage done to the country by treasury looters. The minister threw the challenge at the launch of the Anti-Corruption Situation Room, ACSR, which includes civil society organisations, media groups, government agencies and other stakeholders, in Abuja on Tuesday. ”Those who turned our treasury to their piggy bank are once again presenting themselves as the saviours of the nation. They say the best time for Nigeria was when the proceeds of their corruption subsidized many and gave the illusion of economic boom. They are so emboldened as to say Nigerians are earnestly yearning for them. No contrition. No apologies. No shame. Just sheer bravado. Unbridled arrogance. Revisionism. ”The Civil Society, the media and indeed all stakeholders owe it a duty not to allow Nigerians to fo

The company has also gone Television, with its owner, Dr Innocent Chukwuma granting an interview to TVC, where he claimed he had obtained a judgement of N8bn against the bank. He added that the bank pleaded with him over their inability to pay, and that he graciously offered to accept shares of the bank as payment. GTBank on their part has chosen to remain silent on the matter, perhaps trusting in the integrity of the legal system as against playing to the gallery. Many attempts by us to get the bank’s representatives to comment on the story has proven abortive. A staff of the bank who spoke under anonymity, s

INNOSON VS GTB: Facts behind the Figures: How the Battle between Innoson and GTB Started

The perfection of a man is based on his ability to distinguish between facts and fiction through deductive reasoning — Socrates There have been many counter narratives on the reason why EFCC arrested Innoson and equally we have seen GTB response on its running battle with Innoson and his company Innoson Nigeria Ltd. According to C.P Scott “Comments are free but facts are sacred”. Now that this fight has become an open issue and the public is yearning to know the truth concerning the issue Innoson has with GTB, I will in a three (3) part series of articles reveal to Nigerians and the world what really happened. In a saner society, the company secretary of GTB should have resigned by now and apologize to the Board of Trustees and Shareholders of the bank, because every legal advice and decision it gave to GTB backfired, thereby putting the bank in harms-way. The battle between Innoson and GTB started from a dispute between Innoson and customs when GTB decided to cry mo
